Cos it can’t all be football. Can it?
Written on the way to watch SV Wiesbaden vs Alemannia Aachen.
So apparently there is a mountain. But it’s really kind of just a hill.
Up the mountain goes a train – a funicular train!!!
Not only that.. a water-propelled funicular train!

The car at the top has water tanks – pump them full of water and let the upper car descend, pulling the lower car to the top. Pump the water up into the other car.
Rinse and repeat.
There is a similar one at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorkshire.

But that one doesn’t have a viaduct. There is also another notable one in Fribourg (Switzerland) – that one runs on sewage though.

Well, wastewater anyway – this system has the massive efficiency benefit of not having to pump the water back to the top, it’s just released into the sewer.
But it doesn’t have a viaduct.
This really is very exciting.
