Today’s clash in the Oberliga Mittelrhein (5th tier) brings me to Frechen, just outside Cologne.
TuS Königsdorf are located in firmly located in leafy suburbia. I particularly like the ‘no dogs shitting on my lawn’ signs.
The Königsdorf experience is pretty great for a fan of lower league football. I count the attendance at 68. The ticket is just a cloakroom ticket. Catering is Sausage Guy™️ and Beerwoman™️. The players get changed over the road and walk in with the fans. No scoreboard, no ball boys, no stands, no seats. And they play Robbie Williams’ “Let Me Entertain You’ on a little tinny sound system whenever the home team score a goal. Plus it’s pouring with rain! I absolutely love it.
