Song of the day: ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, by Depeche Mode, played over the Tannoy after AK 07 goals. Can convey either a sense of joyous celebration or grim enjoyment, depending on the circumstances.

I’m beginning to feel quite invested in the struggle at the bottom of the table in the NOFV Oberliga Nord. The table hasn’t shifted much since the games yesterday but that could change today with some more ‘catch up’ games, including this one…

The Poststadion arena, located near Berlin’s central station, in the Moabit district, carries some historical heft. In the 1930s it was the venue for the German Championship Final, and it hosted matches during the 1936 Olympics – in particular, one might mention Germany’s 2-0 defeat by Norway. This game (watched by Hitler*) led directly to Sepp Herberger replacing Otto Nerz as head coach, which then led to The Breslau Eleven (Breslau-Elf), the famous team who defeated Denmark 8-0 in 1937.
The Poststadion is now home to Berliner AK 07 and has a capacity of 10,000.
